National Council of Minorities in Energy Partners with Southern California Edison to Present an Outreach Workshop for Diverse Suppliers in Power Procurement

Rosemead, CA, Dec. 20, 2011—The National Council of Minorities in Energy (NCME) and Southern California Edison (SCE) hosted their first workshop to maximize the participation of diverse business enterprises (DBE’s) in the energy procurement process. Information was given on how to submit bids or offers to SCE in order to facilitate utility procurement.

The workshop included presentations by SCE senior managers on power and gas procurement, renewable procurement and supplier diversity programs and development overview. The breakout sessions provided resources and tools on how to become a more successful supplier, which included information on products or services that SCE purchases and the qualification process.

NCME was represented at the workshop by Chairman Ezekiel Patten, Jr., past Chairman Jerry V. Curry, Vice-Chairman Joe Alderete, SCE and, board members Suyen Pell, Frank Geary, and Juan Ramon Zarco. Chairman Ezekiel Patten, Jr. gave an overview of NCME, its purpose, goals and future direction.
